A message from our CEO Roger Rawlins: Navigating COVID-19

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to be top of mind as each of us experience the influx of information and daily developments which cause questions and uncertainty in the world around us. We are diligently working to ensure the health and safety of our customers, our associates and our communities. I wanted to reach out personally to let you know what you can expect from DSW during this period of concern.

We are thinking of those who have been personally impacted. In recognition of the public health imperative facing us all, we’re doing our part to help slow the spread of the disease in North America. We continue to monitor the situation closely, follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), Health Canada, as well as local and U.S. government officials, to quickly adapt and take the appropriate precautions.

You can take comfort in knowing exactly what we are doing to provide safety and protection:

  • - In addition to our regular cleaning, which is part of our normal course of business, we have instructed our associates to increase the frequency and extent of those cleanings, performing additional cleaning of high touch surfaces and objects. Sanitizing and providing health-promoting resources in our stores is just one of many steps we are taking to maintain a safe shopping experience.
  • - We know education is key, and we are keeping our associates updated regarding COVID-19, what actions they can take to stay well and ensure the wellness of those around them.
  • - And for the benefit of our valued associates, we have relaxed attendance policies and have temporarily revised our emergency pay policy to protect pay for impacted associates.

While our stores are open and running as normal, we are monitoring and taking guidance from local, state and national officials. We may adjust our normal operating procedures to support social distancing guidelines; to include, if deemed appropriate, closing a store to ensure the health and safety of our customers and associates. We also encourage our customers to consider our buy-online, pick-up in-store experience via dsw.com.

We will continue to keep you informed of any developments regarding COVID-19 as it relates to our stores, our products and the positive shopping experience we want each and every customer to have.  As always, we remain committed to the health and wellness of our customers and serving you in-store, online and through our mobile app.

Thank you for trusting us to do all we can during this time of extra care and concern.
